I stand corrected: The company blew its horn lots – I just wasn’t there to hear

First, let me clarify that the fair trade, organic coop I work with is Ottawa’s La Siembra. Second, I work there one day a week which means I miss a lot of what happens the other four days.
Well, part of what I missed last week was all the work that La Siembra’s marketing/communications team did to get the word out about them getting on the WorldBlu list. In addition to being part of the news release WorldBlu put out, they did their own bilingual release which they sent to 200 media contacts across Canada – many with personalised notes. They had a coop meeting to share the news with employees after which each employee got a congratulatory letter from WorldBlu and a copy of both press releases to send to their contacts. And that’s all on top of taking the initiative to apply to get on the list in the first place.
So they were blowing their horn loud and clear – I just didn’t hear it.
