For awhile I’ve been searching for a place, online or off, where progressive communicators get together to share social media strategies and finally found one right here in Ottawa. The Social Tech Brewing meetup brings progressives and techies, and every who’s interest span both those worlds, together to talk about how progressives can use communications technologies to meet their goals. Social Tech meetups started in Vancouver and Toronto but have since disappeared from both places – at least in their original form. Ottawa’s was just restarted by Open Concept’s Mike Gifford. The last one was in late January and featured a great talk by Ottawa-based communications consultant, Pam Kapoor, about her work with Vote Today Ohio supporting the Obama campaign by driving at-risk voters to the polls. Mike recently started an Open Concept podcast and recorded the conversation. Enjoy and learn.
